Kim Seokjin - SEI

Honestly I'm still not the most professional at Socionics. I'm mainly relying on wikisocion.net and worldsocionics.blogspot.com for my socionics knowledge, and I can't type by myself yet. But Jin's most likely SEI.

General description

The SEI is usually friendly and pleasant in communication. Very considerate of his own conveniences and those of others. Attentive and caring in relation to his close ones.

Often takes the position of the "golden mean" in a work group. Loves beautiful objects and images, and a familiar, comfortable atmosphere.

Emotional, internally attuned to others, responsive. Seeks to cheer up others with jokes, games, witty comments, and clever retorts. Tries not to get drawn into debates and arguments, wants to be in good relations with everyone. Knows how to negotiate with people in an informal environment.

Hides his own problems. Shows courage and optimism. Won't make promises if he's not certain that he will be able to carry them out. Wary of people who are intrusive and who could take away his time.

Works at a pace most convenient to himself. He works productively only if he is working for himself and for the people he's interested in. In other cases, the SEI won't burden himself too much and will try to avoid strenuous expenditures of effort. His productivity is heavily dependent on his mood. Will try to evade boring but necessary work.

Honestly the description above just seems pretty Jin in general. Though he isn't as much into aesthetics as you'd expect for a SEI (he's one of the least fashionable members in BTS for god's sake :P) his tendency for enjoying hobbies like cooking and gaming seems pretty SEI in general.

And yeah, he's inferior Fe, but he's still kind of observant of people's moods and tries to lift people up. He created Worldwide Handsome just to make other people comfortable, and if that isn't SEI I don't know what is, because SEIs are honestly the embodiments of comfort. I think he's pretty much known for his wit and jokes in the fandom, so like, that's self-explanatory.

Yeah Kim Seokjin is hella witty (and that quote just seems wholly MBTI Ti-Ne in general; I'm too lazy to look for clips of him being funny oof)

And Jin's generally a very optimistic person (or just likes showing us an optimistic front to make sure we're optimistic, I don't know)

In the We Love BTS special, V said, "I like Jin's positive attitude. His bright energy makes others to have positive attitudes. Energizer!"

Suga added, "Jin hyung has his own energy. He doesn't like a depressing atmosphere, so I think he always brings energy into the team."

Also, Jin just seems very adamant on keeping a cheerful side because he believes it's his job as an idol to keep up a persona.
"I don't like talking about my dark side. I'm in the camp that believes that idols should always show their bright and positive side." That's just very Fe-creative in general.

Explanation for Si-base

"A strong ability to recognize internal physical states in themselves and others, to understand how these states are reached, and to recreate and avoid these physical states.

Individuals who possess Si as a base function are drawn to situations that satisfy their inner physical experience. Whenever Si base function individuals are taking part in something that involves recognizing, recreating, or analyzing physical states, they feel a great deal of personal power and enthusiasm.

The avoidance of discomfort is one of the primary motivations of these types. Feelings of internal discomfort can arise from a tense psychological atmosphere, working too hard and sapping the body's resources, being pressured by other people or by numerous "things to do," and from unsatiated or oversatiated physical needs. These types tend to quickly recognize and be quite vocal about discomfort that arises and either take clever measures to dissipate it or simply get out of whatever is bothering them. They are very receptive to other people sharing feelings of discomfort with them and can help alleviate the tension and offer good solutions.

Si leading types are constantly adjusting themselves to their environment (which includes the people around them), and rarely have any fixed ideas about what is "appropriate" to desire in a given situation. Thus they are willing to accommodate other people's needs in an ad hoc manner. It is enough for something to "feel right" for them to justify doing it. This behavior may seem random to outside observers, since it is concomitant with weak Ni."

Jin having Si in Socionics as a base function would explain why he’s so attracted to activities like cleaning, cooking and so on so forth. He easily recognizes when he or another member is feeling uncomfortable, and has even talked about being allergic to seriousness. He's a hard worker, but not in the sense that he overexerts himself, judging from all his speeches about taking your time and going at your own pace. If he feels like he doesn't agree with something, he’ll tell you, like when he told V he couldn't just change the moves of the performance before the performance itself. If he notices someone feeling uncomfortable, he'd try and approach them or make a joke.

Fe-creative

"The person is sensitive to the emotional atmosphere around him, either from an individual, or a group, or even from inanimate objects such as the landscape, the state of the physical environment he happens to be in, or his own emotional associations with the place or people around him. A positive emotional atmophere is essential for his sense of well being and inner peace, and he either tries to promote it himself by directly influencing it around him, or by simply moving away from the environment or the people causing a negative emotional environment in his view.

For the SEI, this takes an on-the-spot aspect and is reflected in cracking jokes, trying to make people laugh, or simply moving away from people he perceives as affecting him negatively. "

The members have mentioned how he is the member who acts as the peacemaker. He detects emotional atmospheres, and often tries to step up because he doesn’t like other people feeling uncomfortable. He’s often stated he doesn’t like negativity and tries his best to maintain a positive atmosphere, often using himself with the whole Worldwide Handsome thing in order to lighten up the atmosphere of the group. His go to is very often jokes and running gags.

There's also a very interesting article that reflects the differences between SEI and IEI, and while reading it, I get pretty reminded of Seokjin.

And yeah, he's DEFINITELY Alpha.

Alphas: Clarity-seeking and World-accepting

Clarity-Seekers value Emotions (E) and Laws (L).

The valuing of E makes these types appreciative of the mood or emotional atmosphere of the people surrounding them. Emphasis is placed on the sharing and showing of emotion and how those emotions affect the mood of others, with priorities given to emotions that raise and uplift how people are feeling or unite them and bring them together. It is important for emotions to be expressed clearly and openly, even exaggeratedly so that people easily 'get the message'. These types tend to associate subjective value based on how groups of people react to what is being expressed.

The valuing of L makes these types appreciative of clear rules, principles and ideologies by which one lives one's life. Having a clear framework is important to them as it delineates correct and incorrect actions and structures one's understanding fairly, consistently and impartially. Furthermore it demands a consistency of the individual in not changing their tune to suit the situation. Such types are quick to call out double standards and hypocrisy, demanding consistency in the actions of others. They tend to see truth as a more of a coherent or perfect whole, free from internal contradictions, rather than necessarily something that accurately reflects how things work in reality.

Valuing E and L together creates a collectivism in Merry types. While E serves to bring people together under a common, uplifting mood, L creates a consistent framework that all people in this collective can share and sets criteria for group belonging. These types tend to identify themselves by their feeling of belonging to these groups and subscription to the ideologies these groups follow, although how inclusive or specially exclusive this group can be varies between Alphas and Betas.

World-Accepters value Ideas (I) and Senses (S)

The valuing of I makes these types appreciative of the unusual and interesting. These types try to broaden their horizons, trying a variety of different experiences and speculating about different possible scenarios. To them, the blatantly obvious is too straightforward to be interesting. Instead, there are always alternatives, other possibilities that should be explored or tried out to see if they have something new to offer. As such, these types like to view the world with wonder and fascination, looking to see where their curiosity will next take them.

The valuing of S makes these types appreciative of comfort, utility and overall quality of experience. These types want life to run smoothly and enjoyably, placing emphasis on the harmony of the here and now. Decisions are made in regards to what is pleasurable or painless in the moment and lifestyles are usually centered around deriving quality of life and satisfaction from the things one currently has, rather than striving or fighting to get more things. When changes are made, they are to improve the quality of one's current existence, often by removing disruption.

Valuing I and S together creates a contentedness in World-Accepters with their present situation. While I explores the many possibilities the world has to offer, S brings them together into our enjoyment of the present and the quality of life we are living now. As such, the actions of these types are centered around one's lifestyle and the appreciation of that lifestyle in a way that is both enriching and sustaining.

(Sorry for getting too lazy, I'm just copy-pasting things at this point, but I feel like they do a better job at explaining than I do :P)

Also, do you guys know that Youtube Graduation speech of his? (hold on, let me find it)

"My memory of graduation is a little different. I twas before my debut as BTS. I was around 20, just a high school graduate going into university. Back the, the notion of becoming an adult was something quite scary. Anxious about making my way into an unfamiliar world, I was cautious about everything I said or did. Sometimes, I’d feel restless, watching my friends go on far ahead of me, and attempting to keep up with their speed would only leave me breathless. I soon realized that their pace was not my own. What held me together during these times was a promise I made with myself to ‘take it slow.’ I’d go at my own pace, steadily. From then on, it became a habit of mine to take extra time for myself. For instance, when learning choreography, I begin practice days earlier than the others day. If any of you feels lost in the face of uncertainty, or the pressure of starting anew, don’t rush. Take a deep breath. You may find that any moment can be turned into opportunity. Allow yourself to take it easy. Take it one step at a time. You might discover the important things you were missing, and they will reach out to you."

That notion of going at his own pace, is HUGE socio Si (and is also a compelling case why higher MBTI Si than MBTI Fe).

Anyways, kind of rushed, I'll end this here :P
